Award Winning Music Video

A group of young women from Ellis Guilford School in Nottingham won two awards last night at the Nottingham Young Creative Awards 2013.

The group of young women aged 13-15 years took part in an 8 week after school project to celebrate International Women's Day 2013. The project organised by Nottinghamshire Domestic Violence Forum and Mon0lisa Productions explored being a young woman in 2013. As part of this project they decided that they wanted to create a music track and video to raise awareness of International Women's Day to other young women.

The theme for this year's creative awards was ‘Hidden Nottingham' and the young women decided that their film was going to showcase the strengths hidden inside all young women in Nottingham. The group worked with a local recording studio and film producer to create their music video who helped them bring their ideas alive.

The group's hard work paid off when they won not only one but two awards at the Nottingham Young Creative Awards, hosted by One Nottingham. They received the awards in the 13-15 years film and music category.

All the young women were delighted and proud of themselves. One young woman said; "everything has been turned around to happiness and excitement... it also showed me how much I can achieve". The group are hoping that the film will encourage other young women to explore their talents in the future.
