Young men in Year 9 from Djanogly City Academy in Nottingham re-created a music video to raise awareness of domestic abuse and healthy relationships.

The twelve young men involved were part of a seven week creative project, called Choices, to raise awareness of key issues that they were experiencing.

The project covered a wide range of topics that included encouraging the young men to consider what choices they make and the consequences of any decisions made. They explored how they manage their feelings and emotions, discussed what a healthy relationship is and what the law says about consent. The group also explored what a ‘real’ man is and the positive qualities men have.

To conclude the project the group got the opportunity to spend a day at Confetti, an institute of creative technologies, in Nottingham City. The group decided they wanted to create an animation to raise awareness of domestic abuse to other young people across the country. Confetti enabled them to use modern technology to create an animated version of the Man Enough video that was released earlier in the year by the Beats and Brains team in Nottingham.

The young men had a fantastic but busy day working hard together to create the images and fonts that appear across the video. They have all gathered new skills and some are even hoping to pursue college course at Confetti in the future.
